FRONT VOWELS

Front or "forward" vowels are those vowel sounds which are formed by the tongue being more forward in the mouth. This changes the resonating area and the acoustics in the mouth, resulting in our being able to hear and differentiate the vowel sound we hear and can then identify.

These vowels can be slightly manipulated to your advantage, making high or low notes easier or fuller sounding. Changing them the wrong way will result in a bad, silly, wrong, or distorted sound, unacceptable for performance or recording at a professional level.

EAT THIS RED CABBAGE - The red letters are "front" or "forward" vowels.  What you do with them, or what you do not do, greatly affects your sound.
